the campaign in August 2020!
(Further below you'll find our latest update video...)
Hairy Henry is a small Care Farm in West Cork/Ireland - we support children and adults with additional needs. We offer therapeutic riding and therapeutic farming activities to help with emotional, physical, educational, behavioural and mental health challenges.
In 2019, we started restoring an old farm yard on our land - we completed the first step of this project and are now asking your help for STEP 2 please:
To build a barn which can be used as an indoor riding arena and shelter for all of us in rainy and windy weather.
Please support us by making a contribution on our Gofundme page:

Hairy Henry CALENDAR 2021
Another way you can support us is by purchasing one of our 2021 calendars!
We made a beautiful photo calendar for 2021 which is available for sale directly from us for €20 (we can also post it out to you for additional postage).
The calendar contains 15 exceptional photos of our therapy animals and our farm and promises to brighten your months throughout the coming year.
All proceeds from the sale of this calendar will go into our fundraiser.
So buying this calendar will not just get you a colourful enjoyable product, but it will also help Hairy Henry and all the families who come here!
Please contact us if you would like to buy a calendar - sandraschmid@hairyhenry.com

Fundraiser tour September 2020
Hairy Henry the therapy horse went to visit various West Cork towns and villages in the first week of September!
This tour was part of our appeal to the public to help us with our
campaign to raise money for the barn.
Thank you to the people of West Cork and beyond for your wonderful support with our tour - the generosity and kindness and positivity was outstanding!

Our Care Farm - What we offer
Hairy Henry is based on a secluded small farm in the rural setting of West Cork, just within one hour's drive from Cork and Killarney.
Our two main activities are:
Therapeutic Riding
Therapeutic Riding is an activity which uses the horse as a partner in the therapeutic process. The focus lies on gaining benefits from the unique neuromuscular stimulation whilst riding and handling the horse, and from building a relationship with the horse as part of the therapeutic team.
Therapeutic Riding promotes strength, balance, good posture, confidence, coordination and flexibility. It offers physical, psychological and educational benefits to children and adults of a wide range of abilities and conditions.
Care Farming
Care farming is the therapeutic use of farming activities. The purpose of care farming is to promote mental and physical health and emotional well-being by giving people the opportunity to spend time with, and work with our farm animals such as sheep, donkeys, pet rabbits, dogs, hens, ducks and geese, and by exploring and experiencing the natural environment on the farm.
